Dry Ice

Dry Ice is the standard self-contained coolant for shipping frozen products. We recommend using about 5 pounds of dry ice for each 24 hour shipping period. However, due to the fact that dry ice is solid carbon dioxide which depletes oxygen supplies in a modified atmosphere—such as an airplane—airlines have a maximum of 5lbs of dry ice per container per customer. Exposure to air and moisture even in an airtight container causes dry ice to sublimate at a higher rate. To minimize sublimation rates and extend the efficacy of dry ice we recommend filling any dead space in the container with packing peanuts or any filling products.

Dry ice is available in 5, 10, or 40 pound blocks. Check with your sales rep for the availability of the block size you need.
